It began when I checked my emails and saw a email from TrueNAS it told me that one of my drives had failed and the pool was degraded. When I investigated I saw that the drive only had 13 errors but since I had 6 drives I wasn’t using I decided to swap it out I passed through another 2 drives and began the replacement tool. It took around three hours but went smoothly with the pool up the entire time.
I suppose I should expect these things when using what are 2nd or 3rd hand drives. Overall its fine thanks to zfs and I will keep the bad drive as im still not convinced I wasn’t something like a io error with proxmox.
